I'm having an issue with my retropie, I can't get it to recognize my "seagate backup plus slim" 1 TB usb drive. I created a 'retropie-mount' folder and a 'RetroPie' folder in the main dir, formatted to FAT32, and it doesn't create anything within those folders. I also enabled usb mount in the options.

      Is my drive not compatible?

      Windows 10
      Retropie 4.2

You installed 'USB Rom Service' from the Retropie setup script and then enabled it? Have you rebooted the pi? I assume you want to use the 1tb drive for roms in which case you would only need the retropie-mount folder.

@moco I use this method by Easy Hax on YouTube:

It works fine for me. The only thing you need to remember is that the HD needs to be formatted to NTFS. This works for me because my HD was already NTFS, and I had a bunch of movies and episodes that would have been deleted if I needed to format to something else.

@edmaul69 I was just going by what the guy in the video says for this particular method. He says he put a thing in the script that checks for NTFS formatting, and if it doesn't find it, the process stops.

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to get a HD working, either for Fat32 or NTFS, I just posted the one that worked for me.

when sshing into the pi does the drive show up when running dmesg? if not this could be a power issue. remember the PI's don't always give enough power for drives. if it does can you manually mount and access the drive?
