Something very wrong with builds for the pi 0

That is now 3 weekends wasted with something wrong after a fresh install on a samsung evo memory card, how do you reach the point where you wait 24 hours for it to update everything?

Still not clear. What is the actual problem you're experiencing? Do you get an error message? Are you trying to update without being connected to wifi? Without more information this is like stumbling in the dark. Yes, the pi 0 is slower. If you're updating everything from source, it will take a lot of time. That is expected, unfortunately. MAME and EmulationStation in particular can take quite a bit.

                Very simple.
i cannot get connected to the wifi because it wont give me the option in the menu.
                i get no error message.
this is a fresh verified download and flash on a fresh memory card.

This did work 2 weekends ago but i had to wipe because the sound stopped working.
last weekend i was trying to update and i kept having dns resolution errors on a wired connection.
i cannot use retro pie because there is always something that goes wrong.

@xeon take RetroPie out of the equation and go down to the basics then. Connecting to wifi is a system thing.

Get to the terminal and try to connect. See if these

Or similar posts help (this was the first Google result, I'm not sure if it's the best, but you get the idea).

The DNS errors don't inspire confidence in any way. The missing options probably mean it's not fully detecting or activating your dongle. Can be missing drivers, faulty dongle, low power, myriads of things. It may even be a wifi region and channel thingie - what channel does your router broadcast in? Some regions don't allow specific channels to be used, so your hardware will need to be set to a different region if that's the case.

                    Thanks buddy
after checking again i saw the power supply was spitting out 4.3V+- so the wifi dongle was not powering properly.
                    I feel really dumb.

'power supply is now in trash'
