Had everything working fine but ran into an internet issue which required a clean install. Got everything back on there but it's not detecting the PSX bios or SRN files.
The bios is the same file as before, same format (caps) same location.
Tried resetting folder permissions with the lines below but still not working
      sudo chown -R pi:pi /home/pi
      sudo chown -R pi:pi /opt/retropie/configs
      Any other suggestions

Update: the games are not actually saving. I tried to copy over my old SRM files and they didn't work but it's not writing new ones either.
Any help appreciated as is rather not rebuild it all again

Hm. Are they exactly the same name as the game images - caps and all?

Maybe send over the result of ls -l in that folder.

@pjft yes. Basically I backed up my roms folder before doing a clean install, but now it's not detecting the bios which I think is the root of the problem. I know before I had issues saving until I added a bios. Will run that and post the results

@james_dean1986 well, then do it for ~/RetroPie/bios as well.

You might need to copy them over into the bios folder. You can do that via file manager by copying it from the USB.

@hankola copied them via file manager and how I previously did it which was going via \RETROPIE.
think I might need to do a clean install again
