Compatibility of 8bitDo NES30 controllers and N64
-
I actually don't have any of these controllers, but I just want recommendations about them. I really like their design and I'm planning to get a pair of those, but I want to know if they are fully compatible with N64 emulator in ES Raspberry Pi 3 model B, 'cause I already have a PS3 controller which I can use for everything but N64, the left analog stick doesn't respond at all.

@mahcneto are you talking about an nes30 or nes30 pro? And is your analog stick broken or what do you mean by it doesnt work?
-
nes30 works, I can attest to that. I think Eta Prime on YT showed the new N64 one works too.

I mean this one
My PS3 DS controller doesn't work with N64 emulator, the left analog stic, god knows why, I have its drivers and stuff but I just can't get it to work, it's not an official DS3 anyways. If this 8bitdo controller works with N64 emulator, sticks and all that, then i'm pretty much sold. Has anyone tried it with N64 games like Mario or Zelda?
-
@mahcneto they work just fine. Just so you know, the sticks are shorter than the ps3 ones so it is faster in say mario 64 to go from slowly walking to running than a normal big analog stick, so you have to get used to that. Not a big issue. They are really nice. I like mine. The small size people with huge hands complain about isnt an issue for me.

@edmaul69 Just got 2 of these and can't get them to work with the N64 emulator at all, the only thing that works are select+start, everything else doesnt.
Plus, I'm still trying to figure out how to get the controllers getting recognized when I turn the Pi3 on. I thought that I could use the controllers with no Bt at all, just plug and play but I haven't had any luck like that anyways.
PD: i'm on Ver 4.3.3 retropie setup scrit and 4.1 Firmware version on the 8bitdo, followed the tutorial found in these forums, I've also done this:
You must now setup the udev rule in order for Emulation Station to "see" the controller when you restart your Raspberry Pi.
They work on any other emulator, but they don't work on the N64 one and some games from the Ports section (Quake), not registering directions or buttons.
