      Hey there.

Just so you know, I'm a completely beginner regarding Raspberry Pi, Raspbian and Linux in general.
So building a RetroPie is my first project.

First I tried a pre-made image and everything worked but it was really boring and I learned not that much.
So I decided to install it manually on top of Raspbian (with Desktop) following this Guide: link
I tried it 4 times of which I did 2 complete new Installations of Raspbian but I always get stuck while Installing RetroPie at:

      "[ 99%] Building CXX object es-app/CMakefiles/emulationstation.dir/src/views/ViewController.cpp.o".

It just stucks there for hours, no error, nothing.
I tried it as Standard User "Pi" and as "Root", no Idea what I'm doing wrong.

      Hardware:
      Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
      SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 10
      5V 3A Power Supply

      Software:
Raspbian Stretch with Desktop (August 2017)
      RetroPie V4.2.18

      Thanks for any help!

Raspbian stretch is not yet supported as far as I know.

It is possible you're running out of memory. You can try upping the swap or exiting the desktop environment to build from there terminal

I see, I'll try the Lite Version.
          Thanks!
