I have added a section for Amiberry in the Docs
Thanks! It needed an update.

I am a gargantuan newbie when it comes to pi3 and amiberry. After hours upon hours I have managed to install amiberry on my pi3.
Games are running but my main issue is that I am trying to make it run via gamepad only, at the moment F12 quits but I want 'Select+Start' to quit.
I know this has been covered about a million times but I am just not getting how to edit the controller settings for amiberry. Any advice would be greatly received.

@dalek2000 Try installing Amiberry from source. There is a bug in the binary install that breaks the joystick auto-configuration.

If I try to install amiberry from source I get the following error message:
'Could not successfully build amniberry - Amiga emulator with JIT support (forked from uae4arm) (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/amiberry/amiberry not found).'
It can only install from binary.
-
@dalek2000 Can you try updating the RetroPie setup script and then install Amiberry from source? If this doesn't work, then can you try uninstalling Amiberry and then installing from source?
If neither of these work, then I suggest opening a new topic, providing all of the information requested here.
Please also include the build log from when you attempted to build Amiberry from source. The log can be found inside a gzip file in
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/logs
which you should be able to access using STFP/WinSCP. You should post the log at a site like pastebin.com.The binary install should shortly be updated to v2.21 that fixes the bug so you can wait until this happens if you prefer.

@dudleydes I updated RetroPie-Setup script, then updated amiberry from source.
Now Select+Start exits the game which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you very much for all your help.

Is there any way I can assign mouse buttons to my controller?
A lot of games can't start because I don't have a mouse plugged in. I think some require either a left or right mouse click.
-
@dalek2000 Which game are you having trouble with? Could you give the file name so I can test?

Pang on the Amiga, comes up with a load of scrolling text and some music, I don't know how to skip the intro and start the game.
-
@dalek2000 You should be able to just use the fire button.
I have tested
Pang_v2.2_0929.lha
and the fire button allowed to bypass the title screens and start playing. -
@dudleydes Thanks for that, the one you mentioned works.
-
Pang_v2.2_0929.lha won't run any more, have no idea what is going on.
It ran the first time, I played if for a while, then I quit. Now when I run it the screen stays black.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where the joypad config for amigaberry is located?
I really want to map 'F1' key and '1' key as those are required for some games.
-
@jumpingjack It's possible to create game-specific customised controls within the Amiberry UI. More info: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Customised-Controls

Hi
I'm running Retropie w/attract mode on a PiZero. Reading the above and various other threads I suspect there are performance issues with Amiga emulation but I also worry that screen resolution / refresh rate will have a bearing on performance.
Can anyone shed some light on performance and compatibility? Also, I cannot figure out how to calculate performance, I don't see a flag / switch to overlap fps, MHz other other metrics.
I can see significant performance issues (slow, choppy sound) in AGA games but I also see issues in games like Speedball II.
Does anyone have any tips / suggestions in helping me understand this?

Hi everyone,
I'm enjoying the Amiberry emulator but can't seem to get certain games to run. One example is North and South. I'm using the 'NorthAndSouth_v1.7_Files_0194' file.
All I get is a black screen. This happens to more games but some do run without problems. Is it that these games just won't work with Amiberry or is there something else I need to do/set? Thanks in advance! -
If a game doesn't work you could try and locate the adf disk image versions, and try those. If they work, then it could be the whload version has a problem. Perhaps try the whload version on a PC with winuae.
One thing to remember with the Amiga is that quite a few games, especially the older Amiga 500 era games, were quite picky when it came to the Amiga hardware configuration. Some games didn't work with a second floppy drive attached, some didn't like 512k extra memory installed. Some didn't like a newer kickstart, newer than 1.3 (for example).Try a very strict, specific Amiga config. North and South, was a fairly early Amiga 500 title, so perhaps aim for a Amiga 500, no extra floppy drive, no extra memory, v1.2 or v1.3 Kickstart.

@ John_RM_70 Thanks, I'll try it with the adf version.
@dudleydes Can you point me in the right direction to find the autoboot file talked about by Midwan? I may be in over my head a little.
"You can probably manully fix this by changing DATA="whdloadgame:NorthAndSouthImage/ to DATA="whdloadgame:NorthAndSouthImage/data on the WHDLoad execution line in the north and south autoboot file. (NorthAndSouthImage.auto-startup)" -
Wow! I found the auto-startup file and the fix worked!! Thanks!!
Would the same fix work for other games that are stuck at the black screen?
