[Amiga] Amiberry + WHDLoad = Holy Grail - Amiberry's official thread
-
Hi everyone,
I'm enjoying the Amiberry emulator but can't seem to get certain games to run. One example is North and South. I'm using the 'NorthAndSouth_v1.7_Files_0194' file.
All I get is a black screen. This happens to more games but some do run without problems. Is it that these games just won't work with Amiberry or is there something else I need to do/set? Thanks in advance! -
If a game doesn't work you could try and locate the adf disk image versions, and try those. If they work, then it could be the whload version has a problem. Perhaps try the whload version on a PC with winuae.
One thing to remember with the Amiga is that quite a few games, especially the older Amiga 500 era games, were quite picky when it came to the Amiga hardware configuration. Some games didn't work with a second floppy drive attached, some didn't like 512k extra memory installed. Some didn't like a newer kickstart, newer than 1.3 (for example).Try a very strict, specific Amiga config. North and South, was a fairly early Amiga 500 title, so perhaps aim for a Amiga 500, no extra floppy drive, no extra memory, v1.2 or v1.3 Kickstart.

@ John_RM_70 Thanks, I'll try it with the adf version.
@dudleydes Can you point me in the right direction to find the autoboot file talked about by Midwan? I may be in over my head a little.
"You can probably manully fix this by changing DATA="whdloadgame:NorthAndSouthImage/ to DATA="whdloadgame:NorthAndSouthImage/data on the WHDLoad execution line in the north and south autoboot file. (NorthAndSouthImage.auto-startup)" -
Wow! I found the auto-startup file and the fix worked!! Thanks!!
Would the same fix work for other games that are stuck at the black screen? -
@Apekop123 Glad to hear you got it fixed. As for other games, I cannot say. I believe Jaguar XJ200 has the issue as North and South. For others, check the issues, including closed ones, at the Amiberry github: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/issues.
If you can't find a solution for a game, then it may be worth opening a new issue.

Noticed today is available a new version of Amiberry, called 2.24b4. You can install from source. There's any changelog for this?
-
Why can't there ever be a binary ?
I'm getting fed up with hours and hours of compiling, with most failing - such as Mame2003Plus. Hours of wasted time. -
John_RM_70 Maybe is also available from binary, just check is 2.24b4.
However it not take so long from source, way less than Mame2003 Plus. -
@DarishZone The versionlog is here: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Version-history

@dudleydes Thk! I'll try to rebuild Amiberry from source and let you know.
-
@dudleydes No way, I've updated from source but the issue remain, every game goes slow. Other suggestions?
Many thanks.

Nobody is having the same speed issue with Retropie 4.4, amiberry last version (compiled from sourve) and raspberry PI3?
Thanks -
@marus The dev rarely visit this thread so it may be an idea to report your issue at the github page: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/issues.
-
@dudleydes Ok, I've just reported this. Thanks.

Hi people!
I've updated the Version History up to the current beta (2.24b5 at the moment), sorry I had missed that.Binary releases are only available when we reach "Stable" versions, and as I have a few more bugs I know of in the current one, there's no binary for it yet until I fix those. :)
As previously mentioned, any bug reports or new feature requests are best added on the Github page, as I don't usually keep track of the various forums and groups that might discuss such items. I hope you understand! :)

@midwan Yes, I've just posted there. Thank you!
