Use xbox controller as well as arcade joystick?
-
Hi, I currently have 2 arcade joysticks/buttons set up and all seem to work OK for now BUT, when playing a playstation game, I would rather use my Xbox remote as the arcade joysticks don't quite do it for me.. In Emulationstation my Xbox remote works fine for movement and selection, but when I go into a psx game nothing works. When I go into the retroarch settings the controller does also not work, only my player 1 arcade buttons.. I've been to input user to try and select a different device index? But it just freezes my player 1 arcade buttons.. I have the dragonrise USB zero delay boards and to be quite honest I wouldn't buy again as I've had nothing but trouble with them setting them up. Can anyone help please with a kind of simplistic method that'd be great thanks :)

@w44dde I have dragon rise USB on 2 arcade machines, a 4 player and a 2 player cabinet. I also have PS4 and SNES controllers set up for both cabinets and everything works great. I would recommend the dragon rise usb to anyone, they are easy to use and work great.
First, the main issue with the USB converters are that you need to have each joystick wired exactly the same, please check that.
For your PlayStation setup. Please search for @meleu joustick select tool. Install that. Use the tool to set the controller input for just the psx system. Set the Xbox controllers as the first player. In retroarch make sure you go into the GUI and controller settings and turn on the analog for the controllers for each player.
I am on my phone so it isn't easy to do links, but I have this setup and it works great.

@tmntturtlguy thanks for that, worked perfectly, on a side note.. The problem I had with the dragonrise controller boards was that I configured player 1 controller, then configured player 2.. All worked fine.. When I restarted, player 1 controller didn't work properly.. Up went down, down went up, buttons had changed.. Player 2 however worked fine. I've got each button setup in the exact same port on the boards and the controller boards are correctly set on the pis USB order also. I configured player 1 again and restarted, this time it worked but player 2 was going down instead of up etc, which is only an issue in emulationstation but works fine in game.. I searched and searched and all I could find was people saying they had trouble trying to get them to work so thats why I thought they where quite rubbish. All seems to work OK now tho using player 1 to navigate menus. Should player 2 controls still work in Emulationstation correctly or am I missing something? Thanks

@w44dde your issue is pretty common, check your wires on the joystick. I bet you have the wires connected "upside down" on one of the joysticks. Simple fix should be just to switch the wires connected to the joystick for player 2.
