I'm fairly new to Retropie, and wouldn't be using it at all if it weren't for the awesome people that compiled complete images that can simply be written to an sd-card and result in a working product.

The last week or so I've been trying to get Starcraft working on retropie through Stratagus. However, I've run into a problem.

Namely, I use a windows pc. The latest version of stratagus that Retropie downloads is 2.4.2, while the latest version of Stargus I can get is 2.4.1, which is where I think my issues are coming from.

I followed the tutorial to the letter, downloading and installing the 2.4.1 versions of both Stratagus and Stargus to my pc, then extracting the Starcraft folder with Stargus, and moving the content of the dat.starcraft (or whatever) to the roms/Stratagus folder, nestled inside a new folder called "starcraft.data".

The game opens, I can navigate the menu screens, but still can't play the campaign (which according to the latest info I've found, which is years old, is normal), and although I can start a player vs. A.I. skirmish, there are so many bugs as to make it unplayable (certain ground textures disallow movement from SCV's, for instance, making my starting base unusable).

I'm not sure if trying to rollback Retropie's version of Stratagus to 2.4.1 would fix this, but if it would, I'm not even sure how to do that.

Is the project (at least for Windows users) dead at this point, or am I just not technically-literate enough to fix the problem myself? I -am- relying mostly on pre-built .exe files, because otherwise I just don't know what I'm doing, tbh. :(

@zathura stratagus is pretty buggy. I wasn't really able to get anything too playable before it crashed on me. Might have better luck with wine on a Linux PC

          [OFF-TOPIC]
Sorry for being off-topic and unable to help you. But the "Zathura: A Space Adventure" movie was shown this afternoon on TV in my part of the world. It's an incredible coincidence or you were inspired by the movie you watched this afternoon... :-)

          EDIT
Trying to make this an useful post...

          I found this tutorial: http://berryboot.alexgoldcheidt.com/starcraft-on-retropie/

I didn't try myself, but I hope it helps you. ;-)

It's not a coincidence. I'm fully aware that "Zathura" is a ripoff of Jumanji, but I didn't know that back in '99 or '00 when I saw it on a library cart and chose it as my online handle thereafter. :p
