Improve the performance of UMK3?

I wonder if there's a way to improve the performance of UMK3. It is weird actually, because MK2 runs just fine and I tend to believe it's the same hardware, isn't it? Also it would be really nice if there was a way to make the sound in these games louder, because they're almost inaudible. Thank you.

@vegetus I have no issue with umk3 using mame2003. To raise the volume, get a keyboard and press F2 and that will take you to the options for the game. Somewhere in there, there is a volume option.

It was a power issue. I replaced my USB cable and now all MK games are running at full speed. Oddly enough, I started getting random crashes on Kodi after that.
