I've installed RetroPie v4.3 on newly installed Ubuntu 17.10. Everything went smooth with one exception. When I've launched ES for the first time, it asksed me to configure input device (which is perfectly normal). I've done that but each time I would restart ES, it asked me again to configure input.
After digging here and there, I've found out that path in the es_input.cfg points to the inputconfiguration.sh script located in the /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/scripts/
Checking that directory I've found that there is no /emulationstation and instead /emulationstation-dev
I've changed path in the es_input.cfg and now, ES remembers input configuration.
My question is: should I change entry in the es_input.cfg (like I did) or rather rename whole directory from /emulationstation-dev to /emulationstation? are there any other scripts or config files trying to access that directory that still have incorrect path?

      Thanks.

@adriansos666 Did you install the emulationstationstation-dev module ? you need to set-up controllers on emulationstation first before installing the dev package (A workaround is needed for the input mapping paths)

@buzz I'm not aware of it. I've followed tutorial on the RetroPie site. Is emulationstation-dev module one of the optional or experimental packages that can be selected during installation? I've installed all packages - core, main, optional and experimenmtal from teh Retropie Setup but don't recall doing any additional steps beside that.

@adriansos666 Is this your issue also ? https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/2180 I don't want to be replying in two places (which is why we ask people not to use the bugtracker until help via the forum has been received)

@buzz Yes it is. I've opened it since nobody seemed to reply on the forum. I hope I didn't violate any rules.

@adriansos666 It says on the issue tracker to use the forum first for help. I appreciate you didn't get a reply, but you didn't provide much information either (eg saying that you installed everything from experimental etc).

@buzz I'll be more specific and patient next time. I got ES reinstalled and now everything works as it suppose to.
                  Thanks for help.
