I just bought pre-built Retropie system - its the pi with controllers etc which has had the official Retropie software installed so is 'ready to go' - just add ROMS.

(I hasten to add that they are not selling the software itself, as the pack is actually very slightly cheaper than buying all the individual components separately).

All I need now is for my 64Gb USB to arrive so I can start playing with the 34Gb odd of ROMs I have....

Really looking forward to reliving my childhood (first computer was an Apple ][+ ) and we had an Atari cartridge system too.

Anyway hello all from Brisbane Australia !

that is good you don't have to buy the pre-built one you can just make it yourself

you should get into coding so that you can make it better

Here is me converting the original Xbox for a case:

            Really?
Seems most of ebay is breaking the law then.. :)

Anyway this seems a good forum and I reckon that if I need any help this is the place to be.

Would seem so, they don't care as long as they get their cut. eBay isn't what I would consider ethical.

But as mentioned above we can only support the image we provide and would recommend you install the image from this site: you'll know how to set it up again WHEN it breaks, also you can guarantee it won't have malware.

                  Hi welcome!
The Pi is indeed a great device for all your nostalgic needs. :-)
I'm mostly reliving ps1 classics, but also discovering arcade gems like Metal slug and Street fighter III.

I agree with what's said before: Start with a fresh install of Retropie. That way you will get the latest version and people will help you when you get stuck. Many people won't help you when using a preinstalled version of Retropie.

Also you will need to read up a lot if you want to get the most out of your Pi experience so best start at the beginning.

Pi 3B , 64 GB Sandisk ultra flashdrive, 19 systems, 872 hand picked classic gaming gems :-) Dual shock 4v2

Setting up a fresh install isn't really that hard anyway, and everything you are doing will happen because of your efforts--no mysteries about why something does or does not work the way you would expect.

I think I speak for everyone who helps answer questions on this forum that we have all been "burned" trying our best to help someone with their configuration, literally spending hours answering question after question only to find out that the software was pre-installed, or the image came from somewhere else. It is frustrating for us trying to help, but probably even MORE frustrating for the person who needs it, as they often have to start all over anyway.

@LandyVlad I appreciate your enthusiasm. I often say that one RetroPie project is very rarely the same as another. One size almost never fits all. We all have our own ideas about what we want to do, how we want it to look and what hardware/controls we want to use. Fortunately, we all start from the same point of origin, so collectively, the answers are often available, and the opportunities to learn are endless.

I guess it is time I give BCW another go!
