      Hi guys
I want to add retropie to my existing Pi3 system that’s running a home automation server, I don’t want to restart the system to play roms so my question is, can I run and kill retropie from command line?

You don't need to 'kill retropie', since what you're actually seeing is the Emulationstation interface. Just restart Emulationstation from its menu (press the start button on your controller to access the menu) and your ROM list will be re-read from the card.

@carcamerarig Yip just run emulationstation to launch and then exit through the menu it will drop you back to the console.
