Can you solder USB ports to RaspberryPi USB ports
-
Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to buy a USB port and solder it on to the RaspberryPi USB port as a extension and the USB port that I soldered would work, because I was thinking of maybe taking apart my Original Xbox and making it into a case but the USB ports on the raspberry pi wouldn't reach the front of the Xbox and even if it did it would look good, because the Xbox has four separate Xbox-USB ports.

@lostless Is their a tutorial any where on how to do it safely.

anyone?

@retroprogrammer Why bother soldering? Just use an extension or a hub. (There is plenty of room inside an original XBox).
There are plenty of soldering tutorials on YouTube if that's what you are determined to do but it doesn't really make much sense to me. Go with the simple and easily reversible solution. I think modifications to the board should be a last resort when you have no other options, especially if you aren't experienced or confident in doing hardware mods. -
@jonnykesh okay thanks, will do

Sometime ago i've done something similar to this, but with USB extensor like this one:
Doesn't need to solder, just plug and be happy XD
