I know normally game images are saved to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/downloaded_images

But when using sselph's scraper, the "use rom folder" seems to download them directly to an "images" folder in the roms directory at /home/pi/RetroPie/roms

They do seem to work, but I've not seen any confirmation of this being officially supported. Can someone confirm the image from

      /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/images/xxx.jpg
      will take precedence over
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/downloaded_images/arcade/xxx.jpg

      Thanks

AFAIK image full path is an xml attribute for each game in the gamelist.xml, there is no precedence.
Hence, as the scraper edits the gamelist.xml with the good path, this will work.
The only condition is that the pi user has sufficient rights to access the image.

Hah.. yes I just figured that out and came to post this. Forgot about the gamelist.xml file.

          Thanks!
