Atari 5200 not working on 4.3.8 but ok on 4.3.7
-
I have 2 Pi’s. One running Retropie 4.3.7 and one I just updated to 4.3.8. I noticed that the Atari 5200 emulator didn’t show up in the system list after adding the ROMs.
On the Pi running 4.3.7, I didn’t do anything special as far as adding a BIOS or downloading any optional packages. The 5200 ROMs just simply worked.
Is this a issue with the update? If so, is there a way to revert back to 4.3.7? Thanks.

@stonemp did you install the emulator

@herb_fargus I went under optional packages and installed the Atari 800 emulator. Is there a separate one for the 5200? After installing, I still couldn’t get the 5200 to show on the system list.
I did get it to show up on the list after unzipping the ROMs. They won’t play though.
On my Pi running 4.3.7, I didn’t have to download an emulator, BIOS, or unzip any ROMs. I just moved the compressed ROMs into the 5200 folder on the Pi and everything worked.

@stonemp said in Atari 5200 not working on 4.3.8 but ok on 4.3.7:

Then you must have had something magical cause I've always had to extract and copy over/set bios according to the docs

@herb_fargus sigh I feel like it may have been something in the update. I made an emulator system for my brother, sister, and cousin. All of those were the same: 4.3.7, drag over unzipped ROMs, voila!

@stonemp What did you have to install to get the Atari800 emulation working? I don't care about 5200 but they seemed to get mentioned together. I downloaded RetroPie 4.3 a few weeks ago and followed directions but no-go. Granted, the directions & video I saw were for the 3.7 version of RetroPie.
I have all of the Atari ROMS and a bunch of game images (because I emulate atari800 on my Windows PC).
Is there more to the installation then copying ROMs and program image files?
I've visited a ton of links...there's a sea of information out there I'm drowning in.
What part am I missing?
