I'm trying very hard to emulate the setup shown in this video:

      Right now, I've:

      • Cut an SNES extension cord in half
      • Plugged one end into an SNES
      • Crimped the end of the cord and plugged it into a breadboard
      • Crimped the end of the other cord, and have that plugged into my SNES controller

And it works! Controller input from one cut cord and through the breadboard makes it back to the real SNES hardware.

Now, I want to intercept the data and send it to the Pi, but I can't seem to get the wiring right. If I remove the wiring from the SNES controller and send it straight to the Pi, it works. But if I try to introduce the wiring to send data to the Pi, the controller stops working. I suspect this is because there isn't a complete circuit happening between the SNES, the Pi, and the controller, but I'm stuck on how to troubleshoot or fix that. Would anyone have any suggestions?
