2 things: First, he was advising you to just use the guide, not look for a video in the guide. Second, retropie installs the same way on every Raspberry Pi. It doesn't matter which version of the pi they use in the video. Searching "mac retropie installation raspberry Pi" popped up first result a pretty well done video.

@retropaul 3 things first i read the guide as i said second did you read the comments about how people were complaining about the same issue which was not explained in the video? thirdly as i said I'm a newbie , these things might be easy for you but its not for me which is why I've come to the official website for help as opposed to youtube where anyone can say anything.
              many thanks for your help.

Im not sure where the problem lies here - you don't have your Pi yet so don't even know if you are going to have any problems installing it.

I exclusively use a Mac, I followed the instructions in the wiki and everything worked fine, so to assume you will have problems is ridiculous, the instructions DO WORK, you just need to read them a couple of times and then follow them.

Best thing to do is to just wait till the Pi turns up, grab an image from here and install it, it is really that simple.

If you do run into a problem then at least you should have a specific question that can be answered.

                Raspberry Pi 400 - overclocked to 2.3GHz
                Theme - Comic book
                Emulators: All of them...
Roms: Pretty much all of them...
Favourite games: Circus Charlie, Gorf, Gauntlet Legends
                Controllers: Mayflash F101

                      Download the IMG-file: https://retropie.org.uk/download
(Select the correct one for your pi - Zero or Pi 2/3)

                      Use this program:
                      https://www.tweaking4all.com/software/macosx-software/macosx-apple-pi-baker/

Select your SD-card (Make sure it's the right one, if you have several in your mac)

Select your downloaded IMG-file in the "restore" section and hit "Restore backup"

take the card and put it into the SD-slot of the Pi...

Then boot the Pi, and copy some ROMs :-)

@drewpie1895 I'm confused what the issue actually is if you don't even have the pi yet?

Hello @drewpie1895, and welcome to this community.

At a first glance the reaction over your "simple question" can look like a drama, but I would like to highlight this as an indication of how helpful people here are.

Playing and tinkering with RetroPie is our passion (sometimes more tinkering than playing) and we like to share this passion with newcomers. That's why we check this forum frequently, looking if some fellow need help.

The "drama" here wasn't for just asking a simple question, but for having the answers and didn't realizing that they are actual answers.

By the way, I'm just droping these lines here because I saw you're getting some downvotes usually on posts complaining about other people's response. Keep in mind that everyone here is trying to help you.

I agree that sometimes someone can respond assuming that you already have a background. But if you be patient and question again about the exact parts you didn't understand I'm sure the guys here will answer your doubts one by one (the answer for your "whats grabbing an image?" above is an example).

                                        Cheers and welcome again.

@meleu i agree that people were trying to be "helpful"
when i was talking about "drama" it was for this exact situation, i didn't claim to be as clever as the rest of you guys and I'm sure this is very easy for you but to a newcomer it can be difficult and intimidating , even "downvotes" what does that mean?
once again many thanks for everyones help..

@drewpie1895 Here like everywhere, it's more often a question of experience than cleverness, although the latter may let you grasp new concepts more quickly. Alas, people tend to confuse one with the other.

The "downvotes" refer to the local reputation system. You can see the sum of the votes for or against a post to the right of the reply and quote buttons, and you can see your own total reputation on your user page. For my part, I don't like reputation systems, because they usually don't say much about the people being rated, and they don't give meaningful feedback or criticisim. Thus, I usually ignore them for better or worse. I sometimes give upvotes for helpful, friendly, or reasonable posts, but only very sparingly. I prefer to verbalise my praise or criticism.

Sometimes, I go guerilla and upvote downvoted posts as a matter of principle. ;)
