GBA Roms running on Pi Zero W. Does it work for you?
-
Hi guys I have a simple question. Has anybody played GBA roms on pi zero w with success? As in, I can get them working but they don't run great. The sound laggs in multiple roms. The games are playable but mostly the sound is off and the games can sometimes get choppy / laggy.
My Specs:
Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi Zero w on Raspiboy device (http://www.8bcraft.com)
Power Supply used: Battery from 8bcraft project. But have tried whilst plugged in also using official RP3 Charger
RetroPie is v4.3
Built From: SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: SNES Controller as part of the 8bcraft device (http://www.8bcraft.com)
Emulator: Mainly GBA. GB & GBC are running OK mostly.
How to replicate the problem: Switch on device. Start up GBA ROM. Warioland, Krazy Racers, Zelda..etc. Note sound is lagging / gameplay lags at some points when music is playing / dialog is playing.
Other things to note: I have about 200 ROMS mixed between GB / GBC / GBA on it at the moment. -

I haven't myself, but from what I've heard you need to overclock and make use of the gpSP emulator.

I built a gba with a pi zero. Make sure to use gpsp and not m-gba. I didn’t have to overclock.

@lostless But my roms don't work with lr-gpsp? I use default Retropie one which is lr-mgba.
I suppose I will need a new source for my ROMs then to get lr-gpsp working?
Thanks for the replies! :)

@shay90 gpsp needs a bios. Without it nothing will run
