      Hi all, I really enjoy how popular the forum is but one thing I have a real challenge on is locating forum posts for certain emulators. For example, I have done quite a it with C64 - Vice, HAtari-ST & Amiga - UAE4ARM so can give a bit of help and guidance but there are no easy way to break out those systems/emulators from all the other forum posts. I know the old style forum tree may not be desired here but it would help to subscribe and review only those areas that are appropriate. Either that to have mandatory use of tags which includes the emulator system.

      What does everyone else think?

        I like the emulator tag idea.

            I don't like the idea of more categories. The tags may be doable.

            More categories means more work to manage the forum, and more likely people will post in the wrong section. I don't want to have to spend more time than I spend currently moving around topics.

            I also do not want to end up having to maintain custom changes to the forum software - far too much time was spent creating the new site, and my interest is in working on RetroPie not working on the website. However - there is a plugin that can force people to tag a post I believe, I may test this out. I have no idea if it works on this version though as it's very old.

            I would add the forum search is decent and fast, and can be used also.

            PS. I don't think adding tags like "confusion" "better way" to your post is a good use of tags either - forcing tags could increase the amount of tags like this that are not really useful to locate information (imho)

              Alternatively, would it be possible for other participants than the OP to add tags to the thread, or at least to their own post? That way it does not depend so much on the expertise of the topic starter, seeing as they often don't know what is the right tag to begin with...

                How about something like https://www.npmjs.com/package/nodebb-plugin-topic-tags ?

                  @BuZz :
                  That would be a great extension of the forum!

                      Unfortunately that extension didn't seem to work.

                      I don't have time to do any development on the forum software, but I will revisit this when the next version comes out. I will open a ticket also regarding the automatic tags extension.

                          @dips52 when you start a new topic there is an area to type them in under the edit area.

                            thanks buzz.

                            It was the infamous hidden at the bottom of the screen have to full screen F11 to see it.

                              Could someone please tell me how to add tags to a new thread. This is all I see in the editor: https://imgur.com/a/myMk8

                              Edit: Got it figured out. The tag input is not available if you open the "New Topic" form into a new tab.

                                @mitaholo That was very helpful. Indeed, right clicking on "New Topic" to open a new tab disables the tag function. Thank you
