USB transfer is working but doesn't show all the rom folders.

I wanted to add a few roms to my raspberry Pi3. I formatted a 8GB usb stick in FAT32, placed a folder in it, called it retropie and put it in the raspberry. It took a very long time for the usb stick to stop blinking. Eventually it did. In the retropie folder there was "BIOS" (empty), "configs" (which seems to have also all of the emulators on emulationstation) and the "roms" folder. So far it seemed ok. But in the "roms" folder there are only 8 subfolders. Those are "amstradcpc", "fds", "megadrive-japan", "Oddysey2", "pspminis", "psx", "sc-3000" and "vic20". That is all!?! Formatted the USB drive again and did the same process but the same results. Strange it doesn't show all the rom folders for all the emulators. Can i just add manually all the subfolders for the emulators and put the roms in that i need to transfer or do they really have to be created by the raspberry???

@rcduck7 Have you tried looking in retropie setup via the Emulation Station to see if the main and core packages have been loaded. You haven't given too much info, so it is difficult to help. Had you previously had an SD card fitted or did you just put the USB stick in the Pi?
The Raspberry needs to have the Retropie set up from this forum on it. Can you give more details like that in my signature, as I am sure more people can help if you do this.
If in doubt check in Retropie set up to see what 'packages' are loaded, also what games you have for what systems.
Or are you trying to read the USB stick on a PC. Details my friend, details. -
I bought this "nespi" raspberry on ebay with all emulators and roms on it. Every amulator has allready roms. So, it does allready have all the emulators and a lot of roms on it. But there are a few roms missing from my actual hardware cartidges that i own. It has the the SD card in it loaded from the seller. i just put in the usb drive to load a few more roms. It just won't show all of the rom folders when i plugged the usb drive on my laptop again. If i can just write new folders on the usb drive for the existing emulators to put roms in, and if that works i could overcome this problem. Is the usb drive of 8GB to small? It only used less then 1gb so far. I'd like to add a few roms for snes and pc engine. I have a turbografx emulator does this play pc engine roms to? I'm not trying to play roms from the usb to a pc, just raspberry. I just see on my laptop that only a few rom folders are visible.

I just wrote a "snes" folder to the roms map on the usb drive and put a game in that was't available in the existing rom list on my raspberry. The game is transferred and working. It looks like i don't need the raspberry to create the rom folders to transfer more roms. Writing the subfolders manually in the "roms" folder seems to work.
