      Pi Model: 3b
      Retro Pie 4.3
      Built From: PINN
      USB Devices connected: HDD
Controller used: X box one s wireless via Bluetooth (model 1708)
      Emulator: retroarch

Hi - I am not really expired with a Linux system and therefore I have to excuse that I am a newbie... I try to get my X box one controller (model 1708) working also in the retroarch gui. After I updated the retropie ( SDL2) the select key and round X box key are working now in emultionstation and I can use them in emulationstation. If I use "jstest" on the comandline the select button and x box button cannot recognise because it seems that these buttons sends out of range.

If I try to map my controller in the retroarch GUI it does not work. Before the controller is powered on I can navigate with plugged keyboard through the GUI menu. But if I switch my via Bluetooth controller on. It is no longer possible to navigate through the menu. But ithe controller will correct shown as "X Box wireless" controller in the GUI.
But the controller does not work and the keyboard also work not any longer. But some buttons on the controller works but not correct but it shows that the retroarch GUI does not frozen. If I remove a battery from my controller and wait until my pi recognized that the controller was switched of - I can also navigate again with my keyboard. I found a lot of guys which have the same problem - but I did not find a solution for it.

Did someone have the same problem and can help or fixed it? I tried also to set the input driver in retroarch gui to udev and sdl2... but with no improvement...

@dabernd I remember that the docs mentioned to update the firmware on the Xbox One S controller with the Xbox app on Win10 before pairing it with RetroPie (via bluetooth). Have you paired the bluetooth controller in Retropie ?

EDIT: remembered there was another setting to be done on the system before pairing it (Disable ETRM), detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6198/xbox-one-controller-via-bluetooth

yes the controller was updated with win10 and ertm is disabled - the conroller works in emulation station perfectly - inclusive the "select" button and the "round x box one" button. But in the retroarch GUI it does not work any longer.
