RetroPie 4.3.17 Stretch images

@push28 keep your warez to yourself.
-
@push28 what was the fix and why was it removed by admin?
God everyone in the world is becoming a bunch of pansies. Oooooooh you can't do that... ooooohh you shouldn't be doing this.
-
@auswear it's a video showcasing a third party build which is against the forum rules.
Last I checked your name wasn't on the project so of course you aren't concerned, but as for me I'd prefer to avoid the lawyers and those that continue to condone besmirching the project with their pirated garbage
-
@push28 Why would anyone want to fix anything for jessie unless you're some noob pirate that knows enough to only run 3rd party images that are...all on jessie. Everyone's moving on to stretch.
-
@BuZz Hi thanks for the new image, on the version of 16th March I was able to port my setup to Stretch with the B+ and all is working notably: ES w/ PSX + kodi + the desktop (although could not find the desktop in the menu from the script so had to install manually) + paired to official PS3 contoller.
Thanks for the hard work.
-
I got the B+ today and am about to start testing the beta image.
Is there a way to carry over my roms and scrapes or do I need to do that manually again? -

Should be a good start. Do share your experiences there as you go through it.

As an aside this is why I keep my roms and scrapes on a USB. Makes swapping out Pi's real easy.

@bennyprofane
how did you plug in your PS3 controller? Was it recognized immediately over USB, or did you have to install the ps3controller drivers for it?Nevermind, sorted.
-
So, I'm + is up and running.
Anyone else find that games are launching very slowly? I didn't know if it's the image or perhaps my SD card is going bad. -
@dirthurts I don't find any meaningful difference in the loading speed, but I'm running them from a USB stick.
All seemed to go well. Paired my PS3 controller via the Bluetooth menu, without the PS3controller driver.
All good so far.

Following an unusual batch of topic about USB mounting, I did some research.
For information, It seems that usbmount is currently broken on raspbian Stretch.
See here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=192291 for example. -
@sano I'll certainly test ours, but we ship with a custom usb mount so it may not be the same problem. Will test on stretch though.

Working great on my non + B. Though in testing this I've come across something I don't understand, and this is probably a newbie thing so I apologize.
On my Jessie build, in lr-mame2010, it's missing the ability to remap controls like I can in lr-mame2003 (Retroarch GUI - "Controls", after "Save Game Remap File"). I've tried uninstalling the 2010 core and reinstalling it, but nothing gives me the options that lr-mame2003 has in Controls. But after downloading this Stretch build, suddenly I have those options back. Is this specific to the Stretch binaries or am I missing something fundamental on my Jessie build?
Screenshots added for illustration.

@ejclassic you're running different versions of mame2010 in those two screenshots. if you updated mame2010 in your jessie build, i think you'd see the same thing. the stretch image presumably has the latest, or close-to-latest version of mame2010.
-
@dankcushions Nope, the jessie version of mame2010 is current. They are both the current versions unless the RetroPie Setup Menu is not installing the newest one.
-
@ejclassic you can see the version numbers are different by looking at the commit hash in the screenshots (233fc33 vs 1f6e65a). a retropie update via binary should get the same version, but maybe stretch image has a later version. in any case, you can guarantee getting the absolute latest version by updating the package via source, but this will take 1hr+.

The n64 Emulator Mupen64Plus (it’s the 5th one down, the main one, the only one that any good, under rice) is not working right, 1st time you play a game it works then, The same game will then not work again at all, even if you uninstall and then reinstall and so on. All games work 1st time and then they stop and just go back to the main screen
