@scoot75 Please provide more information about your system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, and give more details about which ROM won't work, what system, what emulator ?

@mitu Hi,thanks for the reply,im using the pi2 and i wanted to update the setup script to fetch latest sources as i wanted to install a new theme i clicked on basic install which took about 2 hours to perform and rebooted my machine once this was done,
Now my games wont load, they are all visible within the emulators but they wont load if i click on them,i get the press button A to configure screen but then it jumps back to my ROM list, sega, nintendo, super nintendo, neo geo etc wont play the games, the only games that still work are MAME roms as i can play these with no issuesAny help or advice would be great

@scoot75 When you say you "bought a retropie", are you saying you paid for it? or did you install it yourself? Did you mean a raspberry pi? Or did you buy an SD card with retropie on it?
-
my apologies,i meant to say rasberrypi,
my apologies for all the questions im new to this, the rasberry pi was working great until i updated the setup script, then it all went downhill from there, roms are showing but wont play, also i didnt make a backup before i performed this action,
would love to fix this but not sure where to begin

@scoot75 Use the RetroPie setup and update again and when asked if you want to update the OS packages choose yes. Wait for it do update everything then try again to run a ROM that won't load.
-
@mitu Ok,i will certainly try that tonight once i am home,do you think this will fix the issue?
-
@scoot75 If you didn't update in a long time, then you could have older OS packages while the new/updated emulators are compiled for a newer version of said OS packages and they wouldn't run. It's not a general situation, but something specific to a recent(ish) change in Raspbian Linux.
EDIT: you should answer the questions in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first once you have the information. -
@mitu Thank you again,i will certainly try this and im feeling a lot more hopeful now,
Could you please let me know the steps to perform this or is it quite easy, dont have much confidence in myself after what has already happened?
Again thank you so much for your help and advice
Scott

@scoot75 Just follow the https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/ page. Choose 'Update all Installed packages' and choose yes when it asks about updating also the OS packages.
