      Greetings Friends,

I have been wrestling with this problem for weeks and I can't seem to solve it.
The problem is that when I try to launch any playstation games via pcsx-rearmed (or even lr-beetle-psx) retroarch launches to a black screen that I can only escape by killing the process in my task manager. I have the proper bios file SCPH1001.BIN installed and have even ran it through ePSXe for linux to check that it works.
Here is what I have tried:

      1. Different BIOS Files
      2. Running retroarch in windowed mode
      3. Reinstalling retropie.
      4. Updating linux.
      5. Pulling my hair out
      6. Trying different BIOS and game types PBP and bin with cue.

The games I use I have tried on the same system using another emulator and they work fine.
By the log it seems to be a video issue, but I am also not getting any sound.
I am at my wit's end trying to figure this out and I can't seem to find anyone else who has had quite this same issue. None of the other emulators have been giving me trouble.

      I would love any suggestions.

The Specs Of my Machine are:
      Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz (powerhouse I know)
NVIDIA Corporation GeForce 7100/nForce 630i integrated motherboard graphics
      4gb Ram.

Looking at the log, the only error related to video that shows up:

[INFO] [Video]: Starting threaded video driver ...
[ERROR] [Wayland]: Failed to connect to Wayland server.

It doesn't seem to be BIOS related, the bios is loaded ok

        found BIOS file: scph5501.bin

Are you running Wayland or a non-default X.org/display setup in your installation ? Do other games work ?

I am currently using the recomended nvidia drivers for my graphics card.
          The 304.137 from nvidia.
As for other games working, all other consoles that I have tried all work quite well, snes, gamegear, n64, etc.
The only exception being the nes emulator, which I have not tried troubleshooting yet.
Reading around I am wondering if it is a open gl issue with my drivers.
Do you know of any way to change rendering settings for retroarch from gl?

@willindiana You can edit retroarch.cfg and set the driver. May I suggest you try also the lr-beetle-psx core ? It has Vulkan support and since you're on x86 it can be installed from the optional packages section.
