So I updated my retropie using "Update All Install Packages" and it was all going well. It stopped on the same line of text for a few hours so I unplugged it and power cycled my Raspberry Pi. Everything seems to load and I can see the console selection screen along with the number of games. So I try to use my controller and nothing works, and I figure the config got screwed up. I tried the keyboard and I still can't move around the menu. I figured I'd just go into my network and transfer my roms along with the save files and I can't connect to the pi using the \\RETROPIE. So am I out of luck and I have to reinstall the entire system along with readding all the games or am I missing something?

        Hi,

Could you not read your SD card on a PC running Linux, or with a bit of software on Windows to allow you to read the microSD card, and get your ROM files that way; at least that would save you some work?

Although the horse has bolted, so to speak, if you're going to upgrade anything, always do a backup first. It is so much work to lose if you've built your own image from scratch.

        All the best.
