RP3 B+ and Power over Ethernet ?
-
With the addition of the POE support , is it possible that a browser url (that can be bookmarked) or script can be run say from a smartphone on the same network that would power the pi on or off? I have no clue how PoE works just thinking of how useful this could be.

Following with the same question

First, the ethernet port of RPi 3B+ doesn't natively support PoE.
You have to add a "PoE Hat" like this : https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/poe-hat/
Second, you'll obviously need a switch PoE capable. Most end-user switches/routers are not.
Third, power on/off could be possible by script, but you'll have to manage the RPi (properly shutdown retropie) and the switch (port shut/no shut).TL;DR :
Technically possible (as nearly anything computer-related), but would requires specific hardware and a bit of script knowledge :) -
@Sano thanks for bursting my bubble, lol. Was hoping to be able to power the pi on/off from my phone. Thanks for the info!

@smoothmalik depending on your phone, you can send a shutdown command to the pi
But power on is another story

@Drakaen391 I just searched the forum and see this has been discussed regarding the shutdown from phone. I'm an iphone guy so I think this a no-go situation for me looks like all these app/ options are form android.

@smoothmalik get the app “reflection”
I have an IPhone 6s and use it for both my Pi Server and Retropie...

@Drakaen391 thanks will check it out.
