Emulationstation Translation
-
Hi everyone, i already read about the recalbox translation feature and i am looking for the Spanish translation. I can translate about myself but I am shure if I touch the prebuild archives and try to build it I will f*ck up with everything. Any ideas how can I edit the files to translate it? Or something to get my ES in Spanish. Thank you very much!

The retropie fork of emulationstation doesn't support localisation and I'm not aware of any plans to add it

@ismaelzsilva Besides no actual development in this matter at the moment, there is a thread about it from some enthusiasts. :)

@herb_fargus Did you take a look at latest RecalBox releases ? Damn it look so good. I think RetroPie's team should reconsider some points like adding support for localization.

@a12c4 I don't personally care about recalbox tbh, they have their goals, we have ours. I like working in the command line, I use Android devices, not Apple.
People in the community are free to develop whatever features they like I just personally don't have an interest in it but I wouldn't object if the functionality were added/supported. but imo I liked retropie better when it required more thinking, was less prone to tivoisation back then.

@herb_fargus RetroPie have a big community for sure, but retrogaming is getting way more and more popular each days. I fear many newcomers may prefer their version as it is more welcoming.

That's fine with me. I'm not motivated by the amount of users we have and the more there are the more of a headache it becomes as there are more complaints, more people ripping off the project, more to maintain etc. Anyways to each their own, we all have our pieces to play in developing the project

Also, RetroPie and Recalbox are really in two different user spaces. Retro-gamers who are completely turned off to computers as a hobby will likely gravitate to Recalbax, just as those who want maximum flexibility with their setup will almost always find their way to RetroPie. As you say, retro-gaming is very popular and continuing to grow. That being the case, there's more than enough room for two different philosophies.

Yes and my piece, what I want to do, is to bring EmulationStation to today's standards regarding ergonomic and design, while keeping a "retro touch".
I love the RetroPie community, but I'm afraid we have conflicting goals. I know that you aren't against this kind of changes, as long as I provide support for it, but I may not always be here to do it.
Beside the grid view, I also wanted to bring Localization to ES, but got quickly demotivated because Buzz said he fear this will add too much, unwanted, extra work in future developments. I and many others liked the idea, but I don't want to force you (RetroPie core team) to have it if you don't want it.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
