Hey folks, wondering if anyone else has seen this.

      RetroPie is 4.3.17
I've a Pi 3 B, with Canakit Pi power supply, Built from RetroPie.org.uk image download, upgraded through Setup script, X Gaming Tank Stick, USB Devices: Hub, Tankstick, Trackball, Spintrak Spinner, USB SoundBlaster.

The issue is specific with AdvMame 3.7 - there is no sound in it - I've got it setup t play vector games like Tempest. If I use AdvMame 1.4 sound is fine, just with 3.7 (I've updated through the RetroPie setups to the latest) none. LibRetro emulators (SNES, Mame 2003/2010, NES, etc.) all play sound without a problem.

I still need to test with the built in headphone jack, curious if anyone else has seen this with an external sound device?

      Thanks.

Your soundcard should be compatible with the 'alsa' setting. You might want to look here to see if setting 'device_alsa_device' from 'default' would help. You could also try setting 'device_sound' to 'sdl' in your advmame.rc.

Thank you, setting it to SDL worked. I never would have thought to try that.

I think that they modified something in Advmame as it was working prior to one of the updates with 3.x then just nothing and still worked with 1.4 with Alsa.
