HDMI blanking when using OMX player with video screensaver
-
I think this coincides with me upgrading from jessie to stretch. I'll get blanking on the majority of videos when using OMX with the video screen saver. Videos play fine with omx in the rom previews.
I've tried every audio mode with omx, I did a fresh install of retropie 4.4, tried 2 different pi 3's, tried different hdmi cables, different displays, even cranked the hdmi boost up to 11 all with the same blanking.
Disabling OMX for the screensaver fixes the issue.
I see someone else had issues with slow down over composite, but nothing in that thread seemed to help my issue.
Any thoughts?

@brandito You can replicate the troubleshooting steps from the other topic started by @matchaman and see how
omxplayer
is started from ES, then try different parameters to fix the rendering issue. -
@brandito can you share your config.txt file? It's likely related to overscan - you may try disabling the overscan on config.txt (disable_overscan=1, if I recall correctly) as it takes another graphics layer and the Pi's GPU on some video modes can't handle it well, and/or disabling the captions on the screensaver, as they also take up a separate layer, and see if it helps.

Disabling overscan and setting my display to 1:1 seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure what changed as I was using the same settings all this time and it suddenly had issue playing the videos.
Thanks guys
