      2x Raspberry Pi 3
      RetroPie 4.3.16

If I move my SD card (or flash a separate SD card with the same backup image) from one Pi 3 to another Pi 3, will rpi-update detect if the Raspberry Pi's firmware is outdated?

      For instance:
I fully update the Pi #1's firmware with rpi-update, and then move the SD card to Pi #2 which probably has an outdated FW. If I run rpi-update again on Pi #2 will it update it?

I ask this because I think I remember reading somewhere that this is an issue, but I have been unable to find anything.

If I give a RetroPie setup to a friend I want to make sure the Pi's FW is up to date.

I would think it would be fine as the firmware is stored on the SD Card itself
