I have 2 SD cards and I've installed both versions on each one. Neither will install.

@revtommy what do you mean by both versions? looks like you are using a Pi1 which needs the pi1/0 image.

@lostless I have two SD cards with retropie-4.4-rpi1_zero.img. The other with retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3.img. Both are formatted 16 GB cards. Neither version will install.

You need only the Pi1/0 image, which I assume it's the 2nd screen. What's problematic, looking at the 2nd screenshot, is that your usable space is 0 bytes.
Run raspi-config and expand your filesystem, then re-install using the RetroPie-Setup script all packages (do an update). What cards are you using ? Are you sure they have enough capacity ?

Please fill out the information that @mitu asked for. This is very important because because you seem to have an old B model of the Raspberry (maybe with only 256MB of RAM)

Furthermore tell us how you've installed (which programm you used) the image to your SD.

Neither version will install on what device? If you are trying both those cards on one device, you have to ask yourself why am I doing this, where does it say to this in the instructions?

@mitu I have model B Rev 2. When I try to expand I get "There was an error running A1 Expand Filesystem". I'm using a 16GB SanDisk

@revtommy Dump question? Is the write protection switch disabled? It is not uncommon that if you insert the SD card the write protection switch can be enabeld by accident.

Anyway: you can run sudo raspi-config and it should work to expand file system ;)
