it crashes. It looks like it doesn't like the position in invaders.art
Thanks for trying it. I thought I applied the coord calc as shown in the .art file format explanation. It probably makes sense to test the backdrop of some other game that doesn't rotate the screen as SI does. Once I find out how the coord system works on a "simpler" rom I'll come back to SI. This weekend I will have time to play around on my Pi on this and let you know.
-
@UDb23 - Yeah that makes sense and I appreciate all you've put into it. I did spend an hour or so going through the Github instructions, then finally drew a pic on paper like their instructions but my numbers ended being out of bounds or something too and crashed. I was using the original 2021 x 1080 image as though it was rotated and then crunched the numbers. You would think you could input the 8 numbers and it would calculate it out but that might be to handy. :)
Also I saw in Missile Command you setup your viewport right in the zip.cfg vs a core file. I resized it messing around to verify it does work with settings in that file. That's good to know as I can get rid of the core config file now.

Missile Command
BTW checking "old artwork" backdrops on mr do's site also Missile Command is listed.
The backdrop is basically only the texts for players score and name of the bases. The reason why it is considered a backdrop is because there was a brown glass (below the bezel) on top of the glass (or plexi) with the texts. Interesting finding; will include these in my MC overlay soon. No need to use the backdrop function in this case. -

Already created an excel sheet yesterday that calculates it ;-)
Makes testing faster. -

@UDb23 - Nice, I look forward to the MC update. I installed it and was playing last night. I always liked what you did with the Depth Charge overlay too to create color. The calc spreadsheet might be handy once you get all setup and the bugs ironed out. It's quite involved doing all the steps for one backdrop.

@markwidd what romset did you use stiv with in mame2003plus ?
-
@UDb23 I want to help out a little here so i been doing some testing. What you have to do is create an image at a 3:4 aspect ratio (what the game is running at). So lets assume we can agree on 1080 x 1440
create a new image
horizontal: 1080
vertical : 1440draw your art rotate it right degrees and save it 90 load it up with stiv art file from mr do and it will appear the same on screen the way the image was done.
https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/issues/551 for the picture i saved want what displayed.
ps i just stretched the other image to these dimensions that why i looks like that

@cacrlhungus74 no problem. Unfortunately you will have to manually clean the artwork directories created by accident in your rom directories :(
Build again this morning. Still no change. Perhaps I've got to do something else ? at least the warning is still there..
thanks

@carlhungus74 the PR I merged was to fix wrong directory creation for artwork. It has nothing to do with the sound samples issue you are seeing. However, @grant2258 indicated that your issue is being handled, so you must be patient and wait for updates from the core maintainers.

@cacrlhungus74 dont worrt about this error for ost samples.
Its because we added flac supposrt and dynamic loading for systems with too little memory and the ost samples are prettybig im sure mark will fix this up was just an oversight feel free to ignore that error on ost custom soundtrack if you have the samples. -
check here for updates https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/2566
-
@hhromic thats nothing to do with the install script it the the sample warnings he was asking about earlier custom ost is setting it off.
-
@grant2258 yes I know, hence I clarified to him that the PR won't change his issue :)

Sorry, it's a misunderstanding. Several subjects on the same thread could be hard to follow for non-english speakers :)
Of course there is no urgency... I thought it was fixed, that's why I tried. But no problem, I will wait for the real fix (if any).
thanks -
@carlhungus74 what do you need to get fixed the install script or the samples. If its the install script all you have to do is update your setup script.
-
@grant2258 The samples. but no hurry.
-
ive posted an issue in github for mark im sure he will get round to fixing it

Is the samples bug simply that the warning should not be displayed for the alternate OST samples? Or is there a functional problem with the samples being used?
I'm working from a phone for the next day or so, I apologize that I didn't understand this from the previous posts.

My apologies. It seems everything is functional. Don't know what I do yesterday, but it seems to me that the music was the synthetized one, and with the additional warning message, I thought there is an issue.
But it's not. The OST samples are working. There is a warning message, but no problem with that.
No big deal. Sorry again for my mistake. -
@UDb23 it's generally very easy to get retroarch set up on a desktop with this core if you're interested. The total installation is a few hundred megabytes and it stays self contained in one folder. No worries, just wanted to say. arcadez, for example, doesn't even use retroarch at all; to each their own.
