      Hi so I'am downloading some updates today for retropie and its going very slow. Is Github being slow for anyone else or is it possibly my Linux mirror being slow today?

        @redbatman It depends on your Pi system and what you have installed that needs to update. I started mine at 17:25 EST and it is almost 35 minutes in. Everything zipped along until CGenius started updating and that has easily taken up half of the time and also took forever to build on install so I expect it. Actually it all just finished at 36 minutes runtime.

          @thedatacereal Normally when I update my files from setup script it normalmy take 5 to 8 mins. Now today it took as long as an half an hour. I can download themes quick though suprisngly. But I did notice themes downloading/updating a little slower today.

            Maybe you just had some bad luck or some home network hiccups. For everything I have on mine, it went as expected, if not faster now that I have a 3B+.

              @thedatacereal well this happened to me before in the past. Not that often but when it did I thought it was my Linux mirror something. Do you download from the US or you in the UK.

                Still happening today. Anyone here know how to do mirror checks or change the mirror download server since some of the sites I have gone to haven't been all that helpful

                      @redbatman I tried a full update and I got a slow download too, on the 1st package (avmame)

                      wget https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/stretch/rpi3/emulators/advmame.tar.gz
                      --2018-05-14 19:20:21--  https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/stretch/rpi3/emulators/advmame.tar.gz

                      Saving to: 'advmame.tar.gz'

                      advmame.tar.gz                             4%[==>                                                                                ] 807.75K  38.3KB/s

                      Strangely, using IPv4 the speed is what I call normal

                      wget -4 https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/stretch/rpi3/emulators/advmame.tar.gz

                      advmame.tar.gz.1                       100%[===========================================================================>]  19.70M  1.61MB/s    in 11s

                      Can you retry a simple download, forcing it over IPv4 ?

                          @redbatman Just run the commands above

                          # Should try IPv6 if available
                          wget https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/stretch/rpi3/emulators/advmame.tar.gz

                          # Should download over IPv4
