      @bytethis Can you post your /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/emulators.cfg file ? After updating right now, the contents of the file contains the support for launching NeoGeo CD images

      lr-fbalpha = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fbalpha/fbalpha_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"
      lr-mame2003 = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mame2003/mame2003_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"
      advmame = "/opt/retropie/emulators/advmame/bin/advmame %BASENAME%"
      default = "lr-fbalpha"
      lr-fbalpha-neocd = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fbalpha/fbalpha_libretro.so --subsystem neocd --config /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"

      and the same for fba

      lr-fbalpha = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fbalpha/fbalpha_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/fba/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"
      default = "lr-fbalpha"
      lr-fbalpha-neocd = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fbalpha/fbalpha_libretro.so --subsystem neocd --config /opt/retropie/configs/fba/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"

              @bytethis Ok, it's clear your file doesn't contain the correct emulator invocation, but - as I said in the beginning - this was committed recently, so you'd have to run an update for both the RetroPie-Setup script and at least update the lr-fbalphapackage.

                  @bytethis You don't need to update from source, the emulator is the same, it's just the support for the NeoGeo CD that was added as a configuration option. Update from binary and you should be fine.

                    @mitu I updated from binary and still no change. Rom still kicks back to the menu and no option for lr-fbalpha-neocd.

                      Update RetroPie-Setup, not the emulator.

                          Ok, then try to add the line with the neocd I pasted in the arcade system's emulators.cfg and see if it shows up in the Runcommand launch menu.

                            @mitu I got it to work. I was trying it on Retropie version 4.2, which I had more space on that sd card for the rom. I forgot I had a brand new sd card with the newest Retropie on it (brain fart ) .I updated the lr-fbalpha and added the rom and bioses and it works. There is an option for lr-fbalpha-neocd in the runcommand menu now . Thanks for all your help man !

                              @bytethis is there any reason to prefer neogeo cd instead of the MVS rom version within fba romset?

                              Pros :

                              • Better sound in some game
                              • 1 exclusive game (Samourai Showdown RPG) which is in japanese but have unofficial translations it seems. Well, from what i heard, it's not a great game.

                              Cons :

                              • Some sprites/animations are removed here and there in some games
                              • Loading

                                @barbudreadmon Is there a way to improve the loading times? These aren't real discs we're playing.

                                    @bytethis Just to add to my posts , I didn't know that neo_cd may not work on Retropie 4.2 nor Retropie 4.3 . I tried both but there is no actual documentation on what version of Retropie it actually work and run the roms. It may run on different versions...i don't know. I appreciate it being released and got it working and I know it's brand new to the Retropie scene. I am grateful to @mitu for helping me. I'm sorry at the end I feel I wasted your time . Thank you the help you gave.

                                      I don't work on the FBA core (although I am very intereseted in its new Neo Geo CD functions) but before you give yourself too hard a time: Early written user experience feedback is in general very helpful.

                                      Sometimes early testing leads to code fixes, other times to documentation fixes. This is probably an example of the latter but it doesn't mean your report isn't valuable.

                                        @markwkidd I've never tried. I can't even load a single neocd game anyways. I can't find any definitive instructions. I converted my games to chd a while back. They work in lr-mess.

                                          @bytethis There is no time wasted here. As @markwkidd said, having someone actually use a newly added feature and validating/testing its functionality it's always a plus and part of the normal development process.

                                            I appreciate the kindness. I still don't have it working 100% as I get a screen that comes up with a cd player on the right, and a box with MENU and START on the left. I assumed it was going to work 100% when I replied in this post to @mitu . I can't get any further in getting the games to start. I have tried to to no avail :Metal Slug 2 and Raguy ( Blue's Journey ). I have tried multiple roms, multiple bioses, taken the .wav files and .iso + .cue file and made a new .iso file to try..no go. I have read about copy protection, anti-mod protection and other "protection " files added into the Neo CD images. I have at best downloaded roms with the (!) at the end of the file to let the end user know it is a for sure a working rom. I am at a loss. Still the same screen and no go. For sure the neocdz and neogeo bios files work, as I deleted them and added new ones in guaranteed to work, but the rom kicked back to the menu with the other bioses. I can access the MENU with the B button, press the B button to make the the box on the right flash red on the cd player to play..stop..etc. Am at a loss. Any insight ? I looked for rom hacks and patches, but didn't find any accordingly other than different bios files with hope to make them work...lol..I just wanted this as an option to explore a different emulator and games , but now it a pain in the butt and won't leave my curiosity.
