      Hey guys,

With a new update for Stretch I decided to install RetroPie manually like I always do (on my pi3). I went to edit my retroarch.cfg file in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and what opened was a list of configs with 2881 lines in it!

Everything was there but the standard skeleton framework was gone, there were no comments and it wasn't ordered like I was used to.

I found in /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/retroarch.cfg the file I was looking for but that file doesn't seem to be used? For reference this file only has 855 lines.

      My questions are:

      1. Is this new listed retroarch.cfg file the new standard?
      2. If I copy over the other file will I be loosing any settings? There are far more less settings in this file.

I prefer to edit my files this way rather than through the emulationstation menu since I usually edit it on the fly via ssh.

      Thanks!

On a stock 4.4 image, updated to 4.4.1, my /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg has 885 lines and is heavily commented . Are you sure you haven't copied another config file over ?

No, I haven't copied any files.

All I did up until now has been:

          1. Install RetroPie.
          2. Set up Keyboard.
          3. Navigated to /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and all I saw was the keyboard mapping 21 lines.
          4. Updated RetroPie and system (did it as the same time via retropie_setup.sh.
          5. Navigated to /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and that's when I got this huge list of configs.
*. I also noted that my old retroarch.cfgmoved to retroarch.cfg.bak (The one with only 21 lines).

The global retroarch.cfg has more than 21 lines. There should be a retroarch.cfg.rp-dist alonside, that is the default on 1st install. Copy that file over retroarch.cfg and it should be fine.

Okay cool thanks, wonder where this other file came from and what all the extra configs do! I may have to keep this file to play with.
