      Could be some bug related to the consent part, but can you try to log out of all your sessions (mobile/web) and retry after logging in again ?

            There must have been some new policies/ laws passed recently. Because if I have to agree to one more cookie warning on the Internet I’m going to freak out.

              Yes, the EU's GDPR.

                  @BuZz @herb_fargus I'm no legal expert, but I think your approach doesn't comply to the GDPR's rules of freely given consent:

                  Article 4(11) states:

                  ‘consent’ of the data subject means any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's wishes by which he or she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her;

                  Article 7(4) states:

                  When assessing whether consent is freely given, utmost account shall be taken of whether, inter alia, the performance of a contract, including the provision of a service, is conditional on consent to the processing of personal data that is not necessary for the performance of that contract.

                  Finally, Recital 43 states:

                  Consent is presumed not to be freely given if it does not allow separate consent to be given to different personal data processing operations despite it being appropriate in the individual case, or if the performance of a contract, including the provision of a service, is dependent on the consent despite such consent not being necessary for such performance.

                  By blocking access via a tracking wall until consent is given, this forum may be violationg the cited articles of the GDPR.

                  Perhaps you want to look into this (again). Facebook and Google are already facing legal measures for similar behaviour (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation#Impact, last paragraph).

                  Just a friendly advice from a privacy-appreciating European.

                    @clyde IANAL also, but I think it's ok. As stated in the consent, the forum only uses your personal info to perform it's service - i.e. there is no other use of personal data outside of it. Note that here PI means just email - which is the only mandatory info you must provide for registration, all the other info (name/location/age) are optional.

                      You should feed this back to nodebb forum devs. Thanks.
