Screen going off to the right
-
@Douggernaut the tablet is was made for is a Medion Lifetab E7310 , the resolution of the screen is 1024 x 600
-
@fulton1
I have a similar screen with identical resolution. Here is the entirety of my/boot/config.txt
file which works for me.# For more options and information see # http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt.md # Some settings may impact device functionality. See link above for details # uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default "safe" mode #hdmi_safe=1 # uncomment this if your display has a black border of unused pixels visible # and your display can output without overscan #disable_overscan=1 # uncomment the following to adjust overscan. Use positive numbers if console # goes off screen, and negative if there is too much border #overscan_left=16 #overscan_right=16 #overscan_top=16 #overscan_bottom=16 # uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus # overscan. #framebuffer_width=1280 #framebuffer_height=720 # uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output #hdmi_force_hotplug=1 # uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA) #hdmi_group=1 #hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt 1024 600 60 6 0 0 0 # uncomment to force a HDMI mode rather than DVI. This can make audio work in # DMT (computer monitor) modes #hdmi_drive=2 # uncomment to increase signal to HDMI, if you have interference, blanking, or # no display #config_hdmi_boost=4 # uncomment for composite PAL #sdtv_mode=2 #uncomment to overclock the arm. 700 MHz is the default. #arm_freq=800 # Uncomment some or all of these to enable the optional hardware interfaces #dtparam=i2c_arm=on #dtparam=i2s=on #dtparam=spi=on # Uncomment this to enable the lirc-rpi module #dtoverlay=lirc-rpi # Additional overlays and parameters are documented /boot/overlays/README # Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835) dtparam=audio=on gpu_mem_256=128 gpu_mem_512=256 gpu_mem_1024=256 overscan_scale=1 disable_splash=1
The important part is here:
# uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA) #hdmi_group=1 #hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt 1024 600 60 6 0 0 0
Not sure why but yours is configured for 800x480.
Hope this helps!

@Douggernaut Didnt make a difference bro, if anything it moved it further to the right, ive lost 2 days to this damn screen :/ BUT the text at the start is no longer cut off!!!!!
EDIT:
it is cut off, i thought it hadnt because the font size shrunk

Pics of the controller board incase itll help anyone in anyway, shape or form
-
this is my controller board. Below is a pic of the back of the board:
-
@fulton1 OK.. I found a link to the manual for this controller card but I don't think this will help. "http://www.elecrealm.com/down/html/?40.html" It looks like the only way you can change the resolution of the screen is to use a PC with a parallel port and a cable. No luck :-(
-
@glennlake So nothing can be done ? :(
i did have another screen in this card before and it was PERFECT ( i broke the screen by forcing it into its place :(
So it might be the screen?
-
@fulton1 he night be able to force a custom res to whatever the board is set too. You can do custom modes on the rpi to a degree. Maybe an edid dump would help
-
@BuZz i have no idea what an edid dump is bro
-
-
@herb_fargus Thanks, still have no idea what to do.
-
@fulton1 I'm on phone, so can't link. But search for raspberry pi edid dump and you will find how to do it.
-
Looks REALLY complex, i think ill just try and send it back for my money back.
-
@fulton1 welcome to Linux my friend ;) you're either neurotic like me and will spend weeks on a seemingly simple problem and be ecstatic when you finally figure it out or you'll just buy something known to be supported in the first place and save yourself the headache ;)
I find the problem solving to be rewarding as that's what the pi is all about but sometimes it can understandably be frustrating
-
What will i do about the config.txt? since ive done all kinds of crazy shit to mine.
-
@fulton1 Sometimes the best way to “cut the Gordian knot” is with a sword. In other words, redo your sd card with a fresh copy.
-
@glennlake ah shit, i have so many games, btw can you tell me where to get more roms? and any links to a guide to a fresh install/ tips? i think im gonna buy a new pi 3 and put it in the playstation 1 case :)
-
-
ah crap sorry, ill have a look at the tut, thanks everyone for your help! It is much appreciated
-
@fulton1 First.. Like the boss says, read the rules. I have crazy idea but I think it may work. Take a second sd card and put a fresh RetroPie on it. Then copy the config.txt from the new build to the old sd card. If it works your in, if not your in the same boat, nuke and pave. :-(
