@cyperghost Working on that now.

Nice Update! I prefer "md_image" instead of "md_marquee" after
<view name="video">
to see my Covers from the Games. -

<view name="video">
to see my Covers from the Games.Having both marquee and image won't work all too well.
You could, however, change your gamelist so wherever it says '-marquee' or '-logo' you change that to '-image'.
-
@cyperghost I updated the theme pretty extensively. Including changing the dark color to be more readable and removing the spaces in the filenames for the button prompts.
Update the theme and try now.
-
@lilbud I like this theme very much, because it's lightweight and very easy to modify.
Can you please tell in first posting how you compused the artwork (Dimensions, resolution, effects, overlays...) so other can contribute with new systems?Only if you want of course ;)
-
Will try update theme soon and provide feedbacks.
Set Vram to 100MB lead to instability and memory errors on terminal, so it is better to stick to 80 MB.EDIT: Dunno what's goin on, the updated theme not working for me, i can't see any system.
-
@cyperghost Sure.
Icons:
Created at 1080p, 3 layers. Background layer, which is usually a game screenshot. The color layer on top is set at 70% opacity. Logo colored white and put on top of everything.
I then exported the image at 600x600

@cyperghost I made a more extensive guide and am adding it to the OP.

@lilbud
Having the same issue as @darishzone, the updated theme is not working. I can't see any system. So I switched back to your old release :(About the HowTo: I think that's very usefull ;) Thx
-
Hrm, I'm getting an error
Unknown property type: "origin" (for element of type helpsystem)
. I'm assuming that's the same error that Darish and Cyperghost are getting?Addendum: One install of
emulationstation-dev
and a reboot later, the theme works now! -
Maybe you need to be running the
emulationstation-dev
package instead of the regularemulationstation
that's installed by default ? @lilbud will clear that out I guess. -

-
I'm not really sure why origin was listed for helpsystem. I think maybe it was when I was trying to see if I could enable it for @cyperghost who requested it. I removed the origin tag from the theme.xml and updated.
Update on your ends.

Thanks.
I felt like making this guide because when I had the original icons. I had someone submit a PR with some truly awful icons. Super low quality.
So I like to hope that people will see the guide and will send in higher quality ones.
-
@lilbud Let's vote us for the switch theme as standard theme for retropie 4.5 ;)

Already got some new ones. Done by @SuperCatFooz
PC-88, PC-98, and PC-FX

I actually made plenty more icons for some non-standard systems I have installed. Since I don't plan on submitting these as a PR (mostly because they're not part of RetroPie officially), I figured I'll just place them here on the forum instead. Enjoy!
Sega Pico
FM Towns
Super Cassette Vision

J2ME

Since we're at the task of making icons, any chance for a TurboGrafx-CD and/or PC Engine CD icon into the mix?
-
@garisaan Funny you mention that, I just submitted a PR for both of those icons.
Click here for the PC-Engine CD-ROM2 , and here for the TurboGrafx-CD.
