      @chemdream Try removing /etc/emulationstation and then re-install the emulationstation package. You shouldn't have deleted the ~/.emulationstation folder, probably some settings have been lost.

        @mitu Thanks I'll try that!
        If I re-install retropie base packages, will it re-create .emulationstation?

        Thanks!

          I removed etc/emulationstation ... It installed Carbon, but that's the only theme it installed.

          Also, when I'm setting up my sony controller (via usb), it still only has the options for:
          Up, down, left, right, A, B, start, select, page up, page down.

          Anyway to totally start RetroPie from scratch? Like a complete purge?

          I'm on Ubuntu 18.04.1, amd cpu.

          Thanks!

          EDIT: running retropie-setup to uninstall and reinstall. I'll let you know how it goes!

            Totally uninstalling and reinstalling retropie helps a bit.

            But when setting up Sony controllers, it still only asks for a few buttons.

            It doesn't ask for X, Y, stick, shoulder or hotkey buttons.

              @chemdream Can you post a screenshot with the configuration dialog ? What version of Emulationstation do you have installed ?

                @mitu
                It says Retropie version 4.2.2 last commit 5 days ago.

                And Emulationstation 2.0.1a

                Thanks!

                  @chemdream said in RetroPie not seeing themes?:

                  And Emulationstation 2.0.1a

                  That's not right. This is not the Emulationstation version from the RetroPie project, probably that's why the mapping dialog looks incomplete.

                    @mitu Ahh. It's probably because I installed Emustation first and uninstalling all didn't delete it. I'll manually delete and try again.

                    Thanks!

                      That was it! Thank you so much.

                      So what happened was, I didn't think I wanted ALL of RPie when I started. So I cloned a Emulationstation repos...

                      So 2 things
                      -I guess that repos was old!
                      -When doing a full, it didn't delete emulationstation executable because it was in usr/local/bin, not usr/bin

                      Thanks again!!!

                        with retropie-setup you can install as little or as much of retropie as you like.
