Greetings, this lasts days I've been fixing my old arcade cabinet and I'm having some problems with the controls set up that I've tried to fixed but I haven't find the problem. I'm using th rasp 3 model b. As controler two zero delay encoders with six buttons and a joystick each one, 1p and 2p buttons, and a coin button (I've tested them in a computer and are all well conected).

The problem is that I can configure them in the ES controls perfectly, but when I open a game and I enter the menu from the game to change the controlls for that emulator it doesn't let me do that. I go to settings -> input ->input user 1 binds, and when I'm there and I try to change the function of each button it doesn't let me. I've conected a keyboard and pressed evry single button but nothing happens.

Does anybody know what's happening or what can I have done wrong?
      Thanks a lot

Rather than change the user input bindings, you should be using the core remapping functionality. More information on this can be found in the link below.

@mediamogul Now I can change the contols so thanks a lot, but I have another problem about the input remapping. The problem is that when i'm there instead of saying:

            User 1 B: ....
            User 1 Select: ....
            etc

As I've seen in some internet videos, in mine it says:

            Auto 1 (N/A), (key: z) ....
            Auto -0 (N/A), (key: left) ....
            etc

Since it says auto I don't know wich player controls I'm remapping and it's kind of confusing. Got any idea of what's happening and how to fix it?

That's the new dialog to re-map buttons, you probably seen some older videos with button remapping in RetroArch.

ive hit this as well and was confused. i see auto stuff and explicit buttons, so its confusing. I checked the input bindings and saw some map to auto and some map to explicit buttons, so i'm assuming this means it depends on the input settings--this mostly works but ive found a few situations where it isn't working, so im not sure.
