Ps1 games get start loading then stop
-
@dusk-ember Do you get any errors or TV messages when the screen goes black?
-
No it just launches and stays on what ever screen comes up first. If it helps I'm using a nespi case+ with the shutdown script for a raspberry pi 3b+ and an xbox one controller.

Okay so I am very much a noob with retopie and have tried everything I could think of to get ps1 games to run. I made sure there was a bios and it was all lowercase. I have the right file types for the retropie. I have the cue file. I even opened the cue and double checked it was right. I tested this with Spyro the Dragon and it starts to loadgets to the presentation screen then stops. I do not know what I have done wrong. I have looked over similar posts and videos about this topic but any method or change did not work.
Hi, hey got same problem, but with some other games, for me spyro works ok. Probably may be an image issue, may depen on what was build. Check also the .cue file to see if it points to the proper .bin file

After some testing I still haven't been able to get any ps1 game to run. I went through every possible thing for my bios, had the extension in the cue point to the exact name of game image file, tried connecting to the internet, and waited for like 5 minutes for a game to maybe finish launching. If there is a video on everything psx for retropie please tell me about it. I know putting links in the forums is bad so I'll just name the site I got my roms from. It is
[deleted]
(space is so it won't link). Since emuparadise is dead, I had to find somewhere else. If there is anything weird I need to do or a complete redo of my roms, I just don't know. -
@dusk-ember Please don't put links to ROM sites, it's against the rules.
As for the problem itself- add the information asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
- run the ROM with verbose logging (enabled with the Runcommand launch menu) and then put the contents of the
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
on pastebin.com to see if we can spot an error.

Okay so here is exactly what I am using.
-Raspberry Pi 3b+
-Canakit 2.5 Power Supply
-Retropie version 4.4
-Verbatim Slim Keyboard
-Xbox One Controller
-nespi case+
-nespi case shutdown script from github and was last updated 2018.5.14
-No error messages shown for any game on start up
-lr-pcsx-rearmed for the emulator- Three games tested: Spyro the Dragon, Muppet Race Mania, and Digimon World.
- No specialized script for Retropie, downloaded and installed, only with virtual boy enabled.
As for the log, I tried to do that, but when I select verbose logging the game starts to launch and I can't type anything. I can only leave the game with the controller hotkey.

Did you verify you have a valid BIOS file? Verify the MD5 hash value as well as case sensitivity. Just my $0.02 but it hasn't been mentioned as checked/not checked yet. Could have an invalid BIOS.

Shouldn't the bios be all upper case?
Also try to find some ps1 games in the psp compatible format, also called eboots (.pbp files)..maybe they work better for you. -

It's already in the Wiki.

My bad, I just read through the wiki and when using lr-pcsx-rearmed it doesn't matter if it's upper or lower case.
You can also try a fresh Retropie image and see if your games work. If not, then there is something wrong with either the bios or the game.
