So....after attempting to back up my very nicely working system...which was a disaster and actually destroyed the source SD card build,I am now doing a fresh install.....and it appears that RetroPie setup script is now at v4.0.Exciting stuff!!

Only thing is now,I'm not sure what install I should go for?I'm presuming it would be quick install?

I guess it would actually be 'Install all core packages from binary' right?

I looked at the documentation, but am still a little confused as whether to do a Quick Install (as it states this is what to do if updating) or 'Install all core packages from binary' .This is a completly fresh install inside OSMC.

if you have started from a retropie 3.8.x image, you don't need to do anything - but you can do a quick install if you want (to make sure you have all the core/main packages installed). otherwise just make sure you have the core packages installed and optionally install what you want. There are some details on the help button in retropie-setup also.

If this is confusing - just use a retropie 3.8.1 image, and don't update.

                  Hi @BuZz ,

                  I am installing inside OSMC.

                  I followed the guide here:

                  https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/howto-retrosmc-retrogaming-on-osmc/6671

It automatically installed with the 4.0 script.I just need to know whether for a fresh install 'Quick Install' or 'Install all packages from Binary is best'?I assuming it's the latter?

Quick Install. Read the help - it installs all core and main packages. You can look through the lists and see what they are.

It clearly says in the help

This will install all packages from Core and Main which gives a basic RetroPie install. Further packages can then be installed later from the Optional and Experimental sections. If binaries are available they will be used, alternatively packages will be built from source - which will take longer.
