Following on from what @mitu said, if you put all 9 games into a single custom collection, you could then configure ES to start in that custom collection.

NB: I have no idea how to do either of those things, it's just an idea for you to look in to.

My ES themes: MetaPixel | Spare | Io | Indent

That's the easy part: Either create the collection manually as it is described in the Docs or create an automatic collection with all games in it via Main Menu > Game Collection Settings > Automatic Game Collections > All Games.

you could then configure ES to start in that custom collection.

I don't know if that's possible. In Main Menu > UI Settings > Start On System, I can only choose the Collections category itself, not a particular collection in it. But I may miss something.

When you have the 'Sort Custom Collections and Systems' set, it's possible to choose to start on a custom collection. Here's some screenshots - I have a Megaman custom collection set (obviously) and I can choose to start with it.

@mitu Thanks, I didn't know that (and frankly, it's not intuitive to me that a sorting option does enable certain startup entries).

Alas, it doesn't work on my Pi 3b with Retropie 4.4. I did like you said, but my four custom collections don't show up in Start On System. Their names are varied, from single short words to multiple words with whitespaces and special characters (namely '), so it shouldn't be a naming issue.

I'm updating all packages at the moment to see if that changes anything. But my last update wasn't long ago, not more than 1-2 months.

That said, I noticed one thing that may help @Maddocks. The automatic collection "All Games" shows up in the main carousel (didn't know that either) and thus, can be chosen in Start On System regardless of the sorting option.

            edit: Just some typos.

Eh, it might be because I'm running the -dev branch of ES, I forgot about that.

@mitu By the way, how do you display your VRAM on screen? Is it a feature of ES (dev) or what other tool do you use? It may be handy sometimes, e.g. in case of problems with graphics-heavy themes like recently.

Toggle the Show FPS setting in ES.

@mitu Thanks, I couldn't look for it at the time of my post because ES was updating from source. Apropos and FYI, even the source version doesn't have the feature to start in a collection, yet. But its existence in the dev version is a hopeful sign that it will come to the stable version eventually. :)

@clyde You can install the -dev version from the Experimental packages section, it compiles much quickly than the stable version. You can also switch back if you like.

@mitu Thanks for the tip. I don't need the missing function to start into a custom collection myself, but maybe its helpful for @Maddocks.
