Forgive me if I'm wrong, I've searched the forum and could not find an answer - I finally got star raiders to work in retropie - it tries to open the game using lr-atari800 but won't work, I found if I go into the menu and set the system type to 5200 the game will run but apparently the 5200 emulator does not support keyboard commands - and as anyone who has played this game will know, it's pretty useless unless you can use all of the commands. Is there any workaround for this? Can you re-map keyboard commands (or gamepad buttons) to emulate the Atari 5200 controller's keypad buttons?

@rlknight66 said in Atari 5200 keypad - star raiders:

Can you map the keypad commands to keyboard inputs? TIA

I think so, open the RetroArch GUI - Select + X - and use the Controls section to set Player1 to the Keyboard instead of the gamepad, then you can configure the controller mapping (keys to buttons). Don't forget to use Save Game Override to save the controller mappings for this game.
See the Docs for how RetroArch controls are configured and saved.

The gui isn't letting me map keys to buttons - I can map controller buttons to key strokes but I think the 5200 emulator is looking for input from a keypad and not a keyboard - I'm really new to this, so I'm probably missing something simple.
