Xbox 360 Controller defaults to analogue stick.

I'm just wondering how I can change MAME4all to use the D Pad on an Xbox 360 Controller - rather than the Analogue stick. Most MAME games would be suited better to the D Pad, rather than the left analogue stick.

I use the newer MAME2003, but I believe the mapping works the same. Try pressing 'tab' on your keyboard and you should be able to navigate to the user control mappings. From there, it's simply be a matter of remapping up, down, left and right.

No that doesn't work because the D Pad is not functioning in-game - just in the User Interface.

You might consider using lr-imame4all rather than MAME4ALL-Pi to get the benefit of RetroArch's superior gamepad support. Both use the 0.37b5 rom set and the DPad would be available to you without any configuration. Outside of that, you may be able to run jstest on your controller, get the DPad numerical codes from there and enter them manually into the MAME4ALL-Pi config file.

in the tab menu did you configure player 1 left/right/etc, not just the UI control left/right/etc? from memory they are different.
