re-arrange the Game collections within ES
-
Hello all,
I have some trouble to re-arrange the Game collections within ES (Retropie Debian Stretch, not Jessie). I just cannot get it sorted nicely. For example SNS, next to NES, next to N64 and so on.... Or all Sega Games next to each other. I know I should actual influence that through es_systems.cfg in:
/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
/home/pi/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfgbut it just won't work.... I did it the right way I think in the file.
I sorted all the "system" entries in the right way but in ES all entries are totally deplaced and mixed up, it's really a mess.
Thanks for help. BR
Example:
<system> <name>snes</name> <fullname>Super Nintendo</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/snes</path> <extension>.7z .bin .bs .smc .sfc .fig .swc .mgd .zip .7Z .BIN .BS .SMC .SFC .FIG .SWC .MGD .ZIP</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ snes %ROM%</command> <platform>snes</platform> <theme>snes</theme> </system> <system> <name>n64</name> <fullname>Nintendo 64</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64</path> <extension>.z64 .n64 .v64 .zip .Z64 .N64 .V64 .ZIP</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ n64 %ROM%</command> <platform>n64</platform> <theme>n64</theme> </system> <system> <name>nes</name> <fullname>Nintendo Entertainment System</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/nes</path> <extension>.7z .nes .zip .7Z .NES .ZIP</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ nes %ROM%</command> <platform>nes</platform> <theme>nes</theme> </system>

What do you mean by they're displaced and a mess ?. How are they now and how do you want them to look like ?
You have to pick one of the 2es_systems.cfg
files to edit./home/pi/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
is read first and it's not managed by RetroPie, it should be the file you should be editing, AFTER you copy its contents from the system's file/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
. Note that if you're creating this file, any new emulator configuration will not automatically appear here, but in the ES system config (see below)./etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
is a system file and it's managed by RetroPie. Whenever a new emulator is added by installing it from the RetroPie setup script, an entry for its system is added here. If you want this new system to be added to your custom file, you'll have to do it manually.

Hi mitu,
thanks a lot for responding on my problems.
What I mean, my actual problem is the assortment of my collections in the graphical emulationstation interface.
A s I have been written:
For example SNS Collection, next to NES Collection, next to N64 Colelction and so on.... Or all Sega Collections next to each other (I have at least 7 Sega collection).I pasted the excerpt of my es_system.cfg file in my post. I have been read that I just have to change the <system></system> order to get the desired result - but it won't work. The game collections are not arranged as in the edited es_system.cfg file.
-
@tux80 Are you talking about Collections or Systems ? Collections cannot be ordered, but systems can put in a particular order by editing the
es_systems.cfg
file. -
I'm talking about systems. (NES ist a system, SNES is a system and so on....) And I know that it should work out very well by editing the es_systems.cfg, but unfortunatly, it doesn't :(. I don't know what to do furthermore, I really read every single article on the matter.

You'll have to provide a log file and the customised
es_system.cfg
file to try and solve this. The Emulationstation log file is in/home/pi/.emulationstation/es_log.txt
. Get both files and upload them to pastebin.com, then provide the links to them so we can take a look.
How did you install your RetroPie ? Did you use the image from retropie.org.uk/download or a 3rd party image ? -
it is actual a 3-party Image from the "
[deleted]
" (the 64GB ultimate image with roughly 21.000+ Games on it). I'll provide both, the logfile and the es_systems.cfg file right away. Here, behind this link you can find both requested files.https://my.syncplicity.com/share/w6cu9p8ptmyk1al/CFG Files
Thanks

@tux80 We don't support 3rd party images here. Start with the stock RetroPie image from retropie.org.uk/download. You're wasting our time using a mis-configured image.

I didn't suppose to waste your time. ok, thanks anyway
