Daphne games looking low res even with HD video

When using Daphne on Retropie: Why does all my video look super low res, even when im using HD video? I changed the resolution of daphne to match my monitor (1280 x 1024) and it does seem to take as the parsing screen looks higher res BUT the games themselves always look low resolution still. I've tried the videos on my PC and they look fine and even outside of daphne, on the PI (I'm using the attract trailer for Dragon's Lair as a splashscreen for example) the videos look normal resolution and HD, it's just in Daphne that they look super low res. Anyone know what the deal is? Is this normal for daphne on retropie?
I'm running the latest version of Retropie using a Pi 3 B+ if that at all makes a difference.
