pc/ps3 controller problem

hi, i purchased a controller (trust gxt 540) today and hooked it up to my retropie as fast as i could.
only to find that the device wont show. so i took the "jstest" and found that on my js0 i had a xbox controller.
i searched and read some guides. updated the retropie and xpad and xboxdrv.
and now i am clueless and dont know if i should return the controller or what not. it is specified that the controller is for pc and ps3 -

Your controller seems to have a switch to toggle it between Xinput/DirectInput, try setting it to Xinput and see if it gets detected. Uninstall the
xboxdrv, if the controller is Xinput compatible then it should be detected and work only with thexpaddriver. -
i got it working, had to go back too the store. the controller i got turned out defective, got a new one and life is good.
