      Hey everyone,

I updated my RetroPie about a week ago and I noticed that my video previews are no longer working in ES no matter what theme I use. I tried to update it again, reinstalled ES from source, and tried enabling OCX player. I get sound but no video without OCX. When I do enable OCX I get nothing at all. Any ideas? I researched the forum and found one from 2017 similar issue where reinstalling ES from source fixed but in my case it does not. I didn't try removing the xml or the video files yet, trying to avoid it but I am trying that next I think if it is recommended at this point. I also had to renable ES to autoload like I did when I first updated it. Any help would be appreciated.

Seems like the VLC update from Raspbian broke something. Your problem seems similar to a recently reported issue here. I'm going to ask the same things to track things down

        • add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
        • run the ffmpeg command to identify which video codec/format is the video file that doesn't work.

Can you upload on of the video files with the problem somewhere (Dropbox/Google Drive/etc.) to take a look at it ?
